Yesterday I went for 3 jabs at Mission Medical Centre. 2 for prevention of Tetanus, Influenza and Polio. And the 3rd to draw out my blood to test for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B. I dont know if it's like I fear injections, or fear blood, or didnt take enough food before the jab, or low blood pressure, or lack of vitamins, but anyhow, the nurse had to poke my veins a few times till blood drained out to the bottle. And soon after the needle was removed with just a quarter filled, my head got dizzy.. and you guess it.. I fainted.

I woke up not long after with a glass of guava juice and biscuits offered to me. I had no idea what happened and was told I was like shivering, which was a natural response during any fainting spells.

I never knew I was afraid of blood. I dont have the fear of it until the blood is drawn. But my dad said it's at the back of my head, pyschologically. Oh well! And for the record, it's not the first time I fainted. Remember we had to go through this jab in Primary 6 to test if you have enough antibodies to defend MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccination)? Well, needless to say what happened.. And the 2nd time I fainted, was when I saw my sister bleeding. But then again I wonder if it's the blood that cause me to faint or the pain caused by the cane stroke I had (which I'm rather ashamed to share). So yar, maybe I have this history of the fear of blood.

Ha, but then again, working in the dianogstic lab for a period of roughly 3 months, having seen so many patient's blood taken, me fear of blood? hmm..

We usually overcome fears. But ask me to overcome this fear? Hmm.. More drawing of blood? No way. If they say they draw insufficient blood and ask me to go back to the medical centre and draw again. Oh man!!

Ah. But I wasnt the worse off out of the 5. Jon was the worse. Apparently, though his veins were really obvious, no blood seem to flow out and he had to be re-jabbed about 4 times and yet have to go back to take his blood on another trip. Poor thing. *Shakes head*

And I dont know how my brain links, but maybe, just maybe, I didnt get to go to the biology or nursing sector (*winks) because of that reason. Ooo, but I gotta clarrify, dissection is fun :)

Like me always being the girl I am, I try to find solution to the problem. Just in case any of the above is true about my fainting spells, I went and bought myself a container to store vitamins. With the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and so on label on it. So, if you look in my bag closely enough, there will be this vitamin box where I equip myself with vitamins. And then you'll know the story behind it :)

smile :)
